Linda Ellen Tewksbury

May 13, 1947 ~ April 11, 2024 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Tribute

Linda Ellen Tewksbury passed away on April 11, 2024.  She was born May 13th, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Doris Tewksbury.  The family moved to Meridian in 1954 when she was 6 years old.  Linda attended Meridian schools and graduated from Meridian High School in 1965.  She then went on to Boise Junior College for a few years before transferring to Idaho State in Pocatello to finish her teaching degree in 1969.  Though Linda never had children of her own, she was a loving aunt and great aunt and spent her life influencing other children’s lives as a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary and Sunny Ridge Elementary in Nampa, Idaho before retiring in early 2000s. Linda taught 4th grade for much of her 34 years teaching as she especially loved teaching Idaho History.

This love for history led her on adventures to historical places in Idaho and Oregon, even driving her own motorhome to do so until her health prevented it.  It also led to Linda being the Idaho Archivist/Historian for the Oregon-Idaho Conference of the United Methodist Church and volunteering at the Meridian Historical Center in Meridian, Idaho.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Meridian and was active in Methodist Women and P.E.O.. She served many years as Meridian’s Delegate to the United Methodist Conference.

Linda lived life through the lens of her camera, capturing every moment and milestone with passion and dedication!  Her extensive collection of scrapbooks and photos tells the story of a lifetime of memories.  She loved calligraphy and crafting and would not miss a birthday or holiday sending homemade cards to her many friends and family.  Linda took up crocheting and knitting and loved to make hats, scarves, socks, and blankets.  Linda also enjoyed playing Spite and Malice and teaching her nephew and nieces how to play.  Her family did find out that she did not have a fondness for sledding!

Linda is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Doris Tewksbury.  She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Rosie Tewksbury, her nephew Cory (Valerie) Tewksbury and nieces Traci (Andy) Nichols and Shelley (Caleb) Gillaspy, as well as her great nephews and nieces; Zack, Danner, Nathan, Dawson, Ellie, Wyatt, and Quinn.

The family would like to extend a special Thanks to Stacy and her staff at Edgewood Spring Creek Meridian for the love and care they have given Linda, especially in these last few months. Also a thank you to All Care Health Solutions for the caregiving they have provided.

Services will be held at the Meridian United Methodist Church, 235 E Pine Ave in Meridian at 11am on Saturday, April 20th.
