Charles William Cox

  Charles William “Bill” Cox, 76 of Boise, passed away on August 4, 2017 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
   Bill was born on July 22, 1941 in Willow Springs, Mo., one of seven children born to Henry and Pebble Cox. When he was sixteen, he moved to Idaho from Missouri to break horses with his Uncle Don. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1960-1966. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he began working construction for Morrison Knudsen. Bill met his future wife, Margaret in 1966, and they were married on June 17, 1967. They had been married for 50 years.
   In the early years of their marriage, Bill worked as a lineman in Hells Canyon and worked construction for Gailey Construction. In 1969, Bill and Margaret welcomed the birth of their first daughter, Wendy. Their second daughter, Jennifer was born in 1972. Throughout the 1970s and 80s, Bill ran his own dairy farm, worked as the manager of a large hay and wheat farm, and acquired his own meat packing business, Alpine Pac. He eventually returned to construction, first working for Redmond Construction, and then working as Superintendent at Superior Construction. Bill never really retired from Superior, continuing as a consultant and taking on other independent construction-related jobs.
Two of Bill’s favorite hobbies were smoking meat in his custom smoke house for friends and family, and fishing with his friends Bob, Butch, and grandson, Tyson. Aside from his family, his greatest love was farming, and he continued growing hay and raising cattle at the farm on which he lived until his passing. Bill was generous of his time and labor, had many friends, and was well-respected in both his profession and circle of friends and acquaintances. He deeply loved his grandsons, and he always spoke proudly of them and their accomplishments.
   He is survived by his wife Margaret of Boise; daughter Wendy and her husband, Tom Dvorak of Meridian; his grandchildren, Jordan, Kaden, Tyson and Kian; and his sister Bonnie Collins of Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bob, Ralph, Elmer, Walt, sister Betty Cox, and his daughter, Jennifer.
