Connie June Skaggs, 73, of Boise, passed away on Wednesday, June 28 at St. Alphonsus Hospital. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past two years but eventually succumbed to complications due to her illness. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 5009 W. Cassia St. in Boise on Thursday, July 6 at 10 a.m.

Connie was born to Robert and Marybelle Roth in Taft, California, where her father was stationed during World War II. She spent most of her childhood in Payette, Idaho. After graduating from Payette High School, she attended Links Business School in Boise and then went to work for the Idaho Highway Department. It was then that she met Forrest Skaggs, the love of her life, and her husband of 53 years. They married on March 8, 1964 and never looked back.

Forrest and Connie had two sons, Terry and Tim.  After her kids were old enough for school, Connie went to work as a secretary for several special education departments for the Meridian school district.  Later, she worked as the office manager for the Idaho Potato Commission.

She was blessed with many special friends throughout her life. Many of her closest friends were a group of ladies with whom she played pinochle once a month for close to 50 years.

Connie inherited a love of arts and crafts from her mother. She spent a lifetime doing everything from toll painting to doll making, beading, jewelry making, and quilting.  She also loved playing cards and games on her iPad, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and potted plants.

She travelled to many places including Australia, Germany, Ireland, and Hawaii, but her favorite place was the Oregon coast. Connie and Forrest spent the coldest winter months in Palm Desert, where they made many friends.

Connie is survived by her husband Forrest, her sons Terry and Tim, and her siblings Jim Roth, Bobbi Roth, Elaine Eustacio, and Scott Roth.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the building fund of Christ Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 669, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240, or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
