Edward H Foster

Edward Howard foster, 93, of Boise died of cancer on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 in his family home. He was born to Howard and Mildred (Burgess) Foster on December 11, 1924. Ed was raised in Boise, Idaho along with his brother Joseph and sisters Josephine, Patricia and Betty.
He loved to hunt and fish, and explore the mountains with his brother Joe on their bicycles when they were young. At a young age, he worked in his grandfather’s brick yard. Then he worked with his father on a gold dredge in Atlanta, Id. Joe and Ed fell trees with a two man pull saw because Ed was not old enough to work a chain saw. After the dredge was shut down, with the impending war, Ed and his father went to work in a Vancouver ship yard, and he was an oiler until he was drafted in to the army and became a vertical tracker.
Ed landed on Okinawa where he helped construct a camp of six man tents and an outdoor theater where the USO shows were held, (the camp is still standing and in use by US troops today). After the war Ed came home and started working as a finishing carpenter, and went on to work for Hom Builders and Auld Investment.
After he came home from the war and started working he was introduced to his wife Nancy by his sister Jojo, who was studying to be a nurse at the time. After they were married, they went on to adopt a son (Mark) and then a daughter (Marcie) and they raised them in Boise in the old family home that he inherited from his grandfather.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Marcella, son Mark, grandson Matt (Heather), granddaughter Sarah, great grandchildren Haiz and Ellie. Ed is also survived by his sister’s Pat and Betty, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mildred and his wife Nancy; brother Joe; sister Jojo.
Viewing to be held at Cloverdale funeral home at 6pm on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018. Funeral to be held at St. John cathedral at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 17th, 2018. Burial at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 1pm Wednesday, January 17th, 2018.
