Ellen B. (Rensvold) Chevalier, 87, died June 28th, 2017 at a local care center in Boise, Idaho where she had resided for the past 12 years.  Ellen was born August 3, 1929, in a sod house in Hemingford, Nebraska to Carl and Beulah Rensvold.  Ellen was the second of seven children.  When Ellen was 17 years old, she married Alton “Al” Chevalier on November 22, 1947, in Vancouver, Washington.  Ellen and Al made their home in Portland, Oregon.  In 1946, they had one child, Danny “Dan”.  In the 1950s Ellen was a Nurse’s Aide at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Northwest Portland.  In the 1960s she worked as a Manager at Stacy’s Cleaners and also as a Sales Clerk at a Five and Dime store in the Portland, Oregon area. Ellen and Al moved to Boise in 1967 to be closer to Ellen’s family.  In August of 1969, their son, Dan was in a major motorcycle accident, and at that time they returned to Portland to assist with his care and rehabilitation after he spent several months in the hospital.  They once again returned to Boise and made Boise their permanent residence in the fall of 1975.  After returning to the Boise area, she babysat several of her nieces and nephews.

Ellen liked to go crabbing off of the Oregon Coast with her husband.  She enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends.  She also loved family get-togethers.  Ellen was a believer in Jesus Christ.

Ellen is survived by her son Dan and his wife, Janice Chevalier of La Grande, Oregon; her granddaughters:  Tammy and Husband Todd Pointer of La Grande, Oregon and Sebrina and Husband  Koehen Koehler of Boise, Idaho.  She is also survived by her sisters Darlene Thompson of Pasco, Washington; Karen Wright of Boise, Idaho and Harlan Rensvold (Kathy) of Nampa, Idaho. Three great grandchildren; Bailey, Delaney, and Laycie ; several nieces and nephews. And other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Beulah Rensvold; husband, Al Chevalier; and three of her seven siblings:  Lela, Bud, and Carolyn.  She was also preceded in death by two children that died at birth:  Billie Ray 1945, and Ellen LaVerne 1946.
