Glenda K. Uranga

June 25, 1943 ~ March 22, 2024 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Tribute

Glenda Kay Uranga was born on June 25, 1943, in Ontario, Oregon to Joe and Irene Watterson. She grew up in a large tight-knit family on a dairy farm in Homedale, Idaho. One of seven children, Glenda was second to the youngest. She enjoyed going to a small-town school and maintained many of her childhood friendships throughout her life.

Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Uranga, on September 1, 1962. They immediately moved to Alaska where Johnny served in the Air Force. They were transferred to Great Falls, Montana as Johnny continued his military service, finally returning to the Treasure Valley in 1965. They had three children; Becky, Heidi, and Matt. Family was everything to her, with most weekends spent loading up the family car and driving to Homedale to spend time with both Glenda and Johnny’s large families. With 12 siblings between them, there were lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins with fun to be had when everyone got together.

Glenda spent the next years being a wife, mom, and esthetician, running her own business. She attended school functions, sporting events, and church activities supporting her kids. In 1974, Johnny and Glenda built a home on 10 acres in Kuna. Together, they turned what used to be a sagebrush covered rocky hill on Happy Valley Road into a beautiful home where a lot of special family memories were made.

Glenda had just begun to enjoy her empty nest years and was looking forward to retirement when Johnny died unexpectedly at the age of 51, changing what she’d hoped would be her next chapter. Rethinking everything she thought was going to be her future was difficult, but she managed by spending time with family and friends. Despite doing her best, she never really got over the loss of Johnny. Glenda then moved to Boise, and over the years enjoyed many grandkid sporting and school events, vacations, and dinners out with family and friends. She loved quilting, reading, and gardening. She volunteered for many years at St. Mary’s, both in the foodbank and as the marriage coordinator. The last several years she enjoyed family vacations in McCall. Having eight grandsons always made for a noisy, busy, funny gathering.

The family is grateful to have had this last year to show Glenda how much we appreciated what a great mom and grandma she was to her family. There is much comfort in knowing that she is back with her high school sweetheart, Johnny. Glenda will be remembered with lots of love, good memories, and knowing that she had a life well lived.

Glenda is survived by her children Becky (Todd Bunderson), Heidi (Mark Tidd), and Matt; grandchildren Tyler, Connor, and Cole Bunderson, Christopher, Mathew, and Samuel (Taylor) Tidd, and Johnny and Luken Uranga; siblings Teresa Moulton, Louise Thompson, Fred (Sandra) Watterson, and Susan (Al) Pritchett. She is also survived by a large extended family.

Glenda was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Uranga, parents Joe and Irene Watterson, and siblings Margaret Kay and Bill Watterson.
