John Edward Reeves
1962-2017

John Edward Reeves, 54, of Nampa went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7, 2017.

John was born on July 12, 1962, in Modesto, California, to Jim and Carole Reeves.  The family spent several years in California, later moving to Sedro Wooley, Washington, a place that is so meaningful to him and where he made many lifelong friends.  After graduating from high school and attending college, John joined the United States Navy and served as a nuclear chemist.   Most recently, he was a drug and alcohol abuse counselor in Boise and Nampa, helping countless others relieve their suffering and find their way.

John married Rebecca Reed on May 31, 1999 in Boise and they honeymooned on the island of Maui, which was the first of many exciting travel experiences they enjoyed throughout their marriage.  Rebecca was the love of his life, and his love for her was truly one that all others were to be measured against.   He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jesse Nickerson, in Coeur d’Alene and was so very proud of their successes and happiness in life.

John had a hilarious sense of humor and lived to make others laugh; his cousins, nieces and nephews have endless stories of how he loved to have fun, and how he reached out to them, letting them know he was there to support them in their time of need. John was a caring, compassionate, and selfless man, always giving of himself in ways that would make life better for those around him.  His bright smile and larger than life personality were second only to his faith, and it is that faith that will sustain his family in our hour of need.

John is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his daughter Jennifer and his son-in-law, Jesse Nickerson; his parents Jim and Carole Reeves; brothers James, Rob (Monica), and David (Sara); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russ and Sandy Ford; sisters-in-law Donna, Diana, Debra Bernardelli,  brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Renee Ford; as well as  numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Cathy, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

John was a beloved member of our family, and although our grief and sorrow are overwhelming, we know and trust that God loves him and that John has His promise of eternal life.

Colossians 3: 12-15
Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:30am a.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road in Boise, with Military Graveside Memorial at VA Cemetery at 2p.m. A reception will immediately follow the Graveside service at 5958 W Piaffe Ct. Eagle, ID 83616.
