Linda Ellen Alumbaugh

Linda Ellen Alumbaugh, 78, died Nov. 28, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho from respiratory failure.

She was born in Creston, Iowa on Nov. 1, 1939 to F. E. Cozad (Gene, D. 1971) and H. M. (Herold) Cozad (Hazel, D. 1982). Her father was a long time well-respected business leader and her mother was a past president of the Methodist Women’s church organization.

Linda had a classic 1940s-1950s early childhood experience in a small southwestern Iowa town of 8,500 people, surrounded by small farms and wonderful hardworking farm families.

In her lifetime, she worked at a funeral home, was a real estate broker, and in her later years fulfilled administrative positions with Honeywell and a few other companies until she was hired by the Bureau of Land Management in Boise, where she retired at the age of 76.

All people loved her, even the nurses and doctors at St. Al’s during her final struggle. She always had a smile and kind words for everyone, loved reading library books and the morning paper, doing her daily crossword, putting puzzles together with her friends and family, and actively staying in contact with lifelong friends.

At Christmas time, she always had a gift for everyone, most of them hand-crafted with love.
She never met a stranger she didn’t like, and welcomed everybody with open arms.

She is survived by Ronald D. Alumbaugh (spouse of 42 years); brother, Jerry Cozad; children, Deborah Lynn Stark, Cynthia Ellen Officer, and Michelle Rae Harmon; as well as ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. with a graveside committal to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Cloverdale Funeral Home and Cemetery at 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise, Idaho, 83713, 208-375-2212.
