O'DEAN F MCCRORY

March 11, 1933 ~ October 15, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Share Tribute:

O'Dean Franklin McCrory, 84, of Emmett passed away at his home Sunday October 15, 2017. He was born March 11, 1933 to Franklin and Hazel McCrory in a farmhouse between Mohall and Sherwood North Dakota assisted by a midwife.

O'Dean grew up and attended School in Sherwood.

He left Sherwood to serve in the USAF and ended up at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. While in Alaska he also enjoyed working as a hunting guide for bear and mountain sheep. While stationed at MHAFB he met and then married Ilene Adams of Boise who had two children Susan and Margaret.

After moving his new family to Sherwood he enjoyed family, friends and farming. Living remotely on the farm, he became quite the inventor and Jack of all trades being able to fix anything.

In 1979 he and Ilene built the Northern Lights Supper Club in Sherwood that they owned until they moved to Round Mountain, Nevada in the late 80s to be with his daughter and family. He loved his grandchildren and you would often see him creating something for them.

In Nevada, he worked for Round Mountain Gold and helped his family doing maintenance work at their truck stop business.

In 1996 he retired and moved to the Treasure Valley.

Wherever he went he made friends. He was kind and helpful to whomever needed his help.

The family would like to thank the Boise VA staff who helped with his care.

He is survived by his daughter Susan Scott, grandchildren Melissa and Taylor, great grandchildren Nevaeh, Gavin and Anastie, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also known as "Uncle George" by Eleanor Gaskell, Jeannie Delawyer, John Gaskell and Jill Brown who became his adopted family.

A special thanks to his dear friend Florence Bohrer for her companionship and care over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin and Hazel, his wife Ilene and daughter Margaret.

In lieu of flowers, please come and join us.

Cremation will be under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. A celebration of his life memorial will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N Cloverdale Road, Boise from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24th. The celebration attire will be casual as we encourage attendees to wear "farmer clothes" and join us for some food and conversation.
