Share Tribute:

Samuel John Harmer, 38, left this life on Friday, August 4th, 2017. He is mourned by the light of his life, Christina, his seven children: Alecia Butler (19), Braedon Butler (16), Daisy Harmer (15), Sammy Harmer, Jr. (13), Annie Harmer (11), Carly Harmer (8), and Cayley Harmer (8), his parents, and his brothers and their wives and children. Sam was born in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up as an army brat experiencing life in various corners of the world - Germany, Texas, Maryland, Utah, Hawaii, and then Texas again. He graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas, where he loved playing football as a Brahma. Sam chose Idaho as his home. Sam attended Boise State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree, and then later earned his MBA while working full time.
He is survived by his parents, Dean and Jo-Ann Harmer of Nampa, and his brothers and their wives: Mike and Noel, Paul and Sarah, Ben and Laura, Dan and Emily, and Jim and Emily. Sam was the social media manager at Crucial.com, and taught upper level marketing and PR classes at Boise State University, his alma mater. He is greatly mourned by his students - the "PR Rockstars," his co-workers and dearest friends throughout the world, and Batman himself (probably).
Sam spent his whole life working to make everyone around him feel happiness. He rarely fell short of that goal. Those who knew him loved being around him because he always made even the bleakest of circumstances turn out to be wonderful. If you had a difficult task ahead of you, he would be at your side helping you through with his tireless work and excellent sense of humor. He believed that having experiences and making memories was a higher goal than owning things - because having money sufficient for your needs was plenty. He made sure that his family and friends were always out doing something new and exciting, and never missing out on an opportunity to learn and enjoy life.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to benefit Sam's seven children as they pursue their educational goals at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/sam-harmer-memorial-fund
A “Celebration of Life” has been planned for Thursday, August 10th, 2017 at the Double R Ranch Room in the Stueckle Sky Center at Boise State University. Please park just west of the stadium and enter through Gate F. Doors open at 6 and there will be a short program from 7-8.
If your life has been touched by Sam's, we encourage you follow his example by caring for your significant other in every way, investing all of your time, talents, and means in loving your children, bringing happiness and laughter to all with whom you come in contact, and seizing every opportunity to try something you've never experienced before.
