William Manley Nicholson, Jr. was born on May 11, 1933 in Oakland, California to William and Isabell Nicholson. Bill fondly remembered growing up with his three siblings, Mary Ellen, Frank, and Nanci there.

He attended Castlemont High School where he played football and was Senior Class President.  This is also where he met Judith Freeman.

Bill and Judy married on February 12th, 1954 and were blessed with two children, Lori and William “Biff” Manley Nicholson III.

In 1949 Bill enlisted in the Army Reserves and served in the Operations and Mobilization Unit.  After a successful 35-year career, he retired as Colonel in 1985.

Bill earned his Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Business Management and went on to have a very successful career in Health Management as a Hospital Administrator.  He was greatly admired by co-workers and staff.

On September 29th, 1990 Bill married Carmen Allen Cefalu and gained three daughters Chris, Janine, and Nicole who he loved as his own.

More than anything Bill loved his family and had a way of making everyone feel special.  He and his wife Carmen adored each other for 33 years.  He was loved dearly by his sister, daughters and their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Everyone he met was a friend…
