Betty Lou Nesbitt

BETTY LOU NESBITT (1925 - 2017)

Betty Lou Nesbitt of Meridian, Idaho passed away peacefully at the age of 91 years young Monday, March 20, 2017.

Betty was born October 18, 1925 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Ethel and Leon Englesby. She grew up in Pawnee Oklahoma during the dust bowl and great depression. In 1936, at the age of nine, she and her family left Oklahoma behind in search of a better life and moved to Oregon where they resided until moving to Idaho in 1939. Betty graduated from Star High School with honors in 1944. After high school, she worked at Gowen Field Air Base during WWII driving staff cars, pickups and two-ton trucks. She transferred soldiers by convoy to McCall, Idaho for R & R. She then graduated from secretarial school in 1946 and took a job at The Idaho Motor Club.

On April 22, 1948 Betty married Donald Nesbitt. Don and Betty lived most of their married life on Moon Valley Road outside of Star and raised 6 children on a 135-acre ranch. Cows, corn and kids became her life! Betty dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren and was always there for them. Don died in 1983 and Betty sold the family ranch in 1990 and moved to Meridian. Betty spent her last few years at Willow Park Assisted living and the family would like to thank the nurses and staff for the wonderful care.

Betty is survived by her 6 children Jenita Knight, Vicki Moore, Tawni Swann, Don Nesbitt, and Tammy Mabe, all of Meridian, Idaho and Lynn Rowe of Lake Oswego, Oregon, 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 25th at 2:00pm at Cloverdale Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4255 East Fairview Ave, Meridian, Idaho 83642.
