Mickie Joan Rennie

On the chilly morning of February 16th, 2017, a family came together to send an amazing woman on her journey to be our keeper of the stars.
Mickie Joan Rennie was born May 2, 1937 to Kenneth & Bernice Means at Mercy Hospital in Nampa, Idaho.
In 1954 she married Ronald C. Ekstrand and together they had four children. Ronald died in a logging accident in 1965.
Mickie met and married Robert Rennie in 1972 and moved with her four children to Anchorage, Alaska. While in Alaska, she joined the Kulis Air National Guard. During her years in Alaska she enjoyed flying, spending time at the cabin, deep sea fishing, and seeing all Alaska had to offer.
After her divorce from Robert and her military retirement, Mickie returned to Nampa, Idaho.
Mickie did it all: Cub Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, softball coach, bowling, gardening, camping, fishing, trips to Jackpot. She even walked 2 miles uphill in the snow to school. She has the best family BBQ’s ever, never missed an episode of “Ellen”. She even battle breast cancer and won.
Mickie is survived by her brother, Gary (Pam) Brown, 4 children: Kenneth (Denise) Ekstrand, Tami (Bradley) Littlefield, Michael Ekstrand and Kathryn (Lee) Austin and her grandchildren; Amy (Josh) Grandiy, Charlie Austin, Jerika Tucker, Brennan (Jenna) Littlefield, Jessie Ekstrand and Derrick Ekstrand and 9 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Verner, his staf and all the staff at St. Luke’s Boise MICU for all your kindness, hugs and patience with our mom and family. And a very special thank you to nurse Luke M. You had a very special way of getting on Miss Mickie’s last nerve! (and yes, she really did like martinis)
