Alan Walter Schmidt, 63, American Fork, Utah was born to Robert William and Betty Lou (Frost) Schmidt in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 14, 1953. Alan grew up in Kaysville, Utah and graduated from Davis High School in 1971. He joined the US Army in 1972 and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged in 1980. While serving in the Army he met Janice Martin and married in 1977. They had three children together.
   Alan loved fishing and camping (always squatting by the shore). He made a living as an extremely talented carpenter framing many houses in the Salt Lake valley. He enjoyed Classic Rock music and dancing with friends. He will be missed by many.
   He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Schmidt and Betty Frost Schmidt and a brother Jay Schmidt. Survivors include his children Mike Schmidt, Angela Aguila, Jake Schmidt, and their sibling Brianna Martin; Two sisters Gayle Schmidt and Ann Palmer, Ten grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
   Our family would like to thank JaLene Fackrell for everything she did for our father.
   Celebration of Life Services will be held October 14, 2017 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the VFW 2920 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
