Tribute

Anna Dorothy (Andersen) Steele, 98, of Boise, Idaho went into a heavenly sleep into the hands of our Lord on July 23, 2019.
Dorothy was born on November 15, 1920 in Dixon Nebraska to N.K. Andersen and Anna Margrette (Knudsen) Andersen. She joined her brother Evald on their family farm in Laurel, Nebraska.
She and her family moved to Denmark for one year when she was just 2 years old. They then moved to Askov, Minnesota and then onto Sandstone, Minnesota. There, in her later teen years, she met the love of her life, Wayne Steele, whom she used to admire from her apartment window as he was walking to the post office.
Dorothy and Wayne were married on June 18, 1938 in the Parsonage of the Askov, Minnesota Lutheran Church. Just over one year later, their first Daughter named Beverly Ann arrived on July 28, 1939. Wayne’s job had transferred them to Mediapolis, Iowa in 1941 and a year later they welcomed their second Daughter named Bonnie Lee on September 20, 1942.
Some of her activities over the next number of years in Mediapolis, included, church activities, Girl Scout Leader, Moose Lodge activities, bookkeeper for Wayne’s service station, and taking great care of her family.
In July of 1953, Wayne, Dorothy, Beverly and Bonnie moved to Boise, Idaho. She again became a bookkeeper for Wayne’s new service station, along with being involved in all of her Daughter’s activities, and settling in to the new surroundings.

Daughter Brenda Kay was born on January 24, 1954
Daughter Bobbi Lynn was born on December 14, 1957
Daughter Diana Marie was born on January 2, 1960
Dorothy lost the “love of her life”, Wayne, on June 25, 1978, following a brief but devastating illness. Her additional losses over the years include:
Mother, Anna Margrette (Knudsen) Andersen in June of 1943
Father: N.K. Andersen in June of 1989
Brother: Evald Kristian Andersen in 2002
Grandson: William Clarence Gurley, Jr. in May of 1961
Dorothy was a cherished Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand Mother, and Friend. Dorothy is survived by her five loving daughters and their spouses: Beverly and Kenny Matthews, Bonnie and Bill Gurley, Brenda and Mike Briggs, Bobbi and Kenneth Rivas, and Diana and Shane Smith, along with her numerous Grand Children, Great-Grand Children, Great-Great-Grand Children, and friends.
A special thank you to Spring Creek, Keystone Home Health Hospice, Homewatch CareGivers, and Comfort Keepers for all of the loving care during Dorothy’s final years and days.
