Arthur Eugene Leister

Arthur (Art) Eugene Leister, Jr. passed away on April 13, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, Idaho from respiratory complications.
Art was born in San Luis Obispo, California on Nov. 29, 1943 to parents Arthur and Maxine Leister.
He grew up and attended school in San Luis Obispo, returning following naval service and marriage to his first wife Judy and went on to graduate from California Polytechnic University with a degree in accounting.
Following the birth of their daughter Tracy, the couple moved to Boise where Art was employed by Boise Cascade Corporation in the Internal Audit Department. Their son David, was born two years later.
In 1980 Art met and married Anna Lane and they resided in Boise with Anna’s two daughters, Kimberlee and Kellee.
Art worked as an auditor for many years at the Idaho Transportation Department forming numerous friendships.
Both Art and Anna were very active in AA and enjoyed many close ties within the group. Art held several positions within the organization including treasurer of the Meridian Chapter, GSR, organizer of the Friday Luncheon and had received his 20 year sobriety coin as well as being the “Grapevine” representative and sponsoring several individuals during his association.
In February of 2007, Art’s beloved Anna passed away before he retired from the Transportation Department.
Art enjoyed reading, bass fishing, hunting, tending to his and Anna’s rose garden, the company of his neighbors, friends and family plus, of course, taking care of his beloved cats.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Maxine Leister, his wife Anna Leister and grandson Benjamin Greenberg.
He is survived by brother, Les Leister and niece Andrea Metro Leister; former wife, Judy Leister; Daughter, Tracy Johnston; Son, David Leister, and stepdaughters, Kimberlee Lane and Kellee Lane and grandchildren Tyler and Emily Leister, Abigail and Aaron Johnston, Julea, Gabriel, Joshua and Natalee Greenberg, Nathan Border, Shaylee Archer and George the cat.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday April 29th, 2017 at 11 am at the Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd., Boise, Idaho 83713.
