Tribute

Barbara Arlene Lowe
January 31, 1932 to June 19, 2019

Barbara Arlene Lowe, 87, of Eagle, Idaho passed away peacefully on June 19, 2019, with her family by her side. She was a woman of great strength, gentle kindness and enduring faith in God.

She was born, January 31, 1932 in Denver, Colorado. Barbara (aka Mary Charlotte Dussart) was given the gift of life by her parents, Alice Mary Dussart and Robert Hargrove. Her birth parents graciously gave her to a wonderful, loving couple, Ruth and Lee Graber, whom loved, nurtured and raised her into the beautiful woman she became.

Barbara grew up in Denver, Colorado, graduated from South High School in 1949 and attended the University of Colorado where she met and married John E. Stowe. John and Barbara had four children: John, Brad, Laurie and Linda. They lived in Texas, Wisconsin and Colorado.

In 1965, Barbara remarried the love of her life, CW4 Warrant Officer, Eugene M. (Mike) Lowe, and traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Her deep love for Mike filled her with joy and happiness and she kept the following poem by Mike’s picture:

So Deep and True

A love I have so deep and true,
I placed within my heart for you.
And time may pass so quickly by,
But my true love shall never die.
The days are many till you are near,
I think a thought and shed a tear.
For, oh, how broken my heart would be,
If all your love should pass from me.
So speak the words I wish to hear,
And tell me I have not to fear.
Though time may pass so quickly by,
Our true love shall never die.

Barbara was immensely proud of her children and leaves to them nothing but beautiful memories of travel and adventure. She was an accomplished singer and seamstress; she loved gardening, dancing, hiking, traveling and adventure! Barbara had a keen passion for art, poetry, music, and nature. One of her favorite lunches in Wisconsin was sitting on a park bench and sharing her sandwich with Frank Lloyd Wright. Barbara had dogs throughout her life and her children would often laugh that she loved them more than us, as they were always obedient.

She is survived by three children: Brad Lowe (Dawn Lowe), Laurie Lowe, and Linda Jones (Gary Jones). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy (Vaughn) Lowe. She has a special “bonus” brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Elaine Hargrove. She is also survived by delightful, loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Brandon (Elsa) Lowe, Dillon Lowe, Bradley (Rachael) Lowe, Aubrey (Dan) Banning, Katie (Scott) Pierce, Jordan (Andi) Jones and Nichole Jones. Barbara was predeceased by her loving husband in 2002 and her son, John, in 2016.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Dry Creek Cemetery in Eagle, Idaho. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held afterwards at her home in Eagle, Idaho.
