Betti Jeannette Heck

Betti Jeannette Heck, age 74, passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2023, after fighting courageously with cancer. She was surrounded by her children who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Betti was born in Nampa, Idaho in 1948 to Oliver and Gretchen Howard.

They later moved to Boise. In 1966, she graduated from Boise High School. After graduating, she attended Hollywood Beauty School on a full scholarship and became a licensed cosmetologist. In 1969 she married David Fowler and they moved to Bakersfield, California. They had two children Kristeen Ann and David Wayne. They were later divorced and she moved back to her hometown of Boise. In 1983, her nephew Patrick Howard came to live with her. She raised him and considered him her son. Later, in 1999, she married Tom Heck. They were lifetime friends and enjoyed traveling together. Betti worked for Mark Clark Law Office for 23 years. Her coworkers were her second family and her work brought her a lot of happiness. If Betti wasn’t working, she was volunteering. She volunteered at the Idaho Humane Society, the Idaho Food Bank and ran an adopted grandparents program for 20 years. She was always giving to others and felt there was always someone who needed something more than her.

She is survived by her daughter Kristeen Woodruff (Stacy), sons David Fowler and Patrick Howard (Kathy). Her grandchildren, who added so much joy to her life: Riley Woodruff (Claire), Kailey Westensee (Evan), Ashlyn Edginton (Taylor), Kinley Goodson (Gavin). Her best buddies (her great grandchildren): Trevin, McCall, Jaxon and Blakely. Her sisters: Judee Rhea and Berta Marks. Her brothers: Larry Howard, Mike Howard, and Dee Howard, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betti will be missed beyond measure but we are thankful that she returned home and is pain free. Her example of service, family, and unconditional love will live on with her family.

A memorial service will be held at the Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside service immediately following. A viewing and visitation will be held prior to the service from10:00-11:00 a.m.
