Bi Xia Li passed away at home surrounded by family on August 27, 2018 at the age of 84. Bi was born on February 4, 1934 in Canton, China, to Li Shang Xiang and Chen Cai Use. Bi immigrated to Idaho with her husband Guo Pan Zhen to be closer to her four children (Zhi, Bing, Ye and Qian). Throughout her life, Bi never wavered in her commitment to her family. After her husband passed away on March 26, 2000, she decided to get close to her youngest grandkids then in 2006 she moved from her daughter’s house to live with her son, Bing and to take care of her grandson, Matt, who was everything to her. Her legacy as the strong-willed matriarch of the Zhen family will be carried on through them. Bi was a wonderful lady and an example of love, humility and caring for others. Now she can rest as she would not do while she was with us. Her gain is our loss. In the last few days of her life, Bi Xia Li asked her children to dye her hair black once again. “Are you afraid Dad won’t recognize you?” her daughter Ye, teased. Around Bi, one could always expect there to be an abundance of laughter and loud talking. She will be remembered for her fondness of Pepsi and coconut candy, her devotion to feeding her family and her persistent late-night phone calls. She is survived by her daughters, Zhi and her husband Jin Zheng, Ye and her husband Antonio Wong; her sons, Bing and his wife Fanny, Qian and his wife Qiu; her thirteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way – all of whom she adamantly told to “be good” when she was gone; Hong Mei, Larry, Michael, Sasha, Sofia, Carolina, Kenneth, Alice, May, Jade, Matt, Vivian and Vincent. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at 10am at Cloverdale Funeral Home. A burial will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
