Bonnie Mae Garcia

Bonnie Mae Garcia, 79, died of natural causes at her home in Boise, Idaho on August 4, 2020.

Bonnie was born April 12, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho to Cecil and Vesta Montgomery of Melba. Her early years were spent in rural Melba before moving with her family to a homestead in Black Canyon north of Caldwell in 1948. Bonnie loved horseback riding and participated in many field events. She attended Middleton High School until her marriage to Richard Weeks in 1957. “Dick” was in the Marines and was stationed in Hawaii so Bonnie and their first child, Debbie, joined him there. Their two other children, Scott and Terri, were born when they returned to Boise where they subsequently made their home. She traveled with Dick and her small family to various work locations including Idaho City, Hells Canyon and Yakima. After their divorce in 1969, she met and married Pat Garcia in Yakima and their daughter, Michelle, was born. When they were divorced, she and Michelle moved to Tacoma and she began her career in the restaurant business where she perfected her lifelong love of cooking.

Bonnie spent many years in the Tacoma area and there she met her longtime companion, Bob Fedderson. They made numerous trips to the coast to enjoy the ocean and dig clams. There she learned to cook many wonderful sea food dishes. When Bob retired, they did some traveling in their motorhome until Bob’s passing in 2012. Bonnie then returned to Boise and spent the remainder of her life enjoying family and a close circle of friends through her church.

Bonnie was a generous and giving person and a visitor to her home seldom left without freshly baked cookies or some other delicious food she had prepared and just happened to have on hand.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Cecil and Vesta; her husband, Dick Weeks; grandson, Bryan Weeks, and longtime companion, Bob Fedderson.

Bonnie leaves her four children Debbie Weeks, Scott Weeks, Terri Jones (Tony) and Michelle Zellers (Frank); her brother, Allan Montgomery and sister, Carol Smith (Tom); her grandchildren Alyssa, Aren, Jessica, Rebekah, Troy and Lukas; great grandchildren Josiah and Gabriel; an aunt, Roberta Wolf, four nieces Sandra, Barbara, Christy and Ellen; numerous cousins, extended family members and a special sister-in-law and friend, Sandy Weeks.

An outdoor memorial service will be conducted on Monday, August 10, 2020, 10:00 A.M. at The Cornerstone located at 1023 S Curtis Rd., Boise, Idaho. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to The Cornerstone, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a favorite charity.
