Col. Bryan W. Brunzell, born September 27, 1928 and raised in Murphy, Idaho, passed away peacefully September 15, 2021, surrounded by his family, in his home in Boise, Idaho, days before his 93rd birthday.
He was married to the love of his life, Margaret Brunzell for 70 years, who passed earlier this year in July. Together they have four children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Bryan graduated from Jordan Valley High School in Oregon and then obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho where he met his beautiful wife. He joined the United States Air Force and their family served around the world. During his service he obtained a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California. One of his most rewarding military assignments was as Commander of San Vito dei Normanni Air Station in Italy. After 28 years of service, they retired to Boise, Idaho to be near their mothers in their elder years. They built a family cabin in McCall and enjoyed spending time with their daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While Bryan and Margaret traveled the world, they always held dear their family and history in Murphy, Boise, and McCall. Both Bryan and Margaret are beloved and will be greatly missed by many.
A military ceremony with full honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery located at 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, ID 83714. A reception will follow in the Optimist Youth Sports Complex Park on the corner of Hill Rd. and Horseshoe Bend Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bryan’s name to the Owyhee County Historical Society or the Boise VA Medical Center.
