Our beloved dad, Charles A. Furr passed away at Regency Columbia Village in Boise, Idaho on July 4th, 2020. He was 92 years old.

He was born in Warrenton, Virginia on April 9, 1928. His parents were Jackson and Kathrine Furr. He was the seventh born of 13 children. He met our mother, the love of his life, in Alexandria, Virginia. They were married in my mother's church in Holloway, Louisiana on November 7, 1953. Immediately after they married they moved to Houston, Texas for work. After a short while they made their home in Hickory Grove, Louisiana, near my mother's family where our brother, Charles A Furr Jr. joined them.

He had four children with our mom: Charlene (Randell) Hodgkinson of Boise, Idaho, Dusty (Mitzi) Furr of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Karla (Mike) Gerleve of Boise, Idaho, and Dean (Lori) Furr of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Our family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico in 1966 where he got a job at Holloman Air Force Base on the test track. While in Alamogordo our parents owned two separate businesses, the Oasis Mobile Home Park and The Seat Cover (Levi store). Dad always had a second or third job. He loved to work. He moved mobile homes as a side job. In 1975 he went to work on the Alaskan Pipeline in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska and worked there until 1977, then returned to Alamogordo. During the 40 years they were in Alamogordo they made many dear and lifelong friends. They loved it there.

Our parents moved to Boise, Idaho in 2006 to be closer to other family members.

He leaves behind 4 children, 14 grandkids, 27 great grandkids, 2 siblings (Georgia Dawson and Virginia Furr), and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Vera Furr, his son Charles Allen Furr Jr., his granddaughter Sage VanCleave, and 10 of his siblings Alice Trenum, Mable Canard, Wesley
Furr, Jack Furr, Howard Furr, Harvey Furr, Joe Furr, Elizabeth Wines, and Ruth Slayton.

Our dad liked attention. He loved to talk about his family and past jobs. Before he passed he discovered his love for Christ. He would often say, "I love my wife, I love my family, and I love God." We will miss him.

His Memorial Service will be at Cloverdale Funeral Home on 1200 N. Cloverdale Rd. in Boise, Idaho on July 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited space available. There service will be live webcast of the service, if you’d like a link to the webcast to watch remotely, contact the family directly or the funeral home.
