Cleora E. Becker

Tribute

Cleora Coppers Becker: Born 2/20/1927 – Passed away 11/9/2018 at 4am, peacefully, at age 91, with her grand-nephew, Kristopher Grow, at her side, in a local nursing home in Boise, Idaho. She was born and raised in Athens, Ohio, and later moved to Columbus, Ohio with her Aunt (Annie Radcliffe) and Uncle (Bill Radcliffe) after her mother passed away. She was sixteen years old at the time.

She got her first job working at a soda fountain while going to school. Later, she became employed with Huntington National Bank after graduating from high school. Eventually, Cleora landed a job where she would work for 44+ years as Clerk Secretary for the President of the bank. In her later years, she would work investigating bank fraud.

Cleora would marry Ernest William Becker Jr in 1956, and they would remain married for almost 60 years. She did not have children, so she became a second-mama to all of her nieces and nephews, and loved her family dearly. She taught everyone how to make cookies and cakes and pies, making beautiful dinners for all the holidays. She always loved baking. Her hobbies were oil painting, playing the piano, family history, antiques, art, gardening, world travel, adventures, color, and she always dressed like a lady. Her husband passed away December 11th, 2015. Her heart was forever broken and she looked forward to the day when she would be with him again. Even though her heart ached over the loss of Ernest, she would keep going until the Lord called her home. She was a member of St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Canal-Winchester, Ohio, had a strong belief in God, and was a friend to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Ernest), parents (Pearle and Helen Dwyer Coppers), her Aunts (Annie and Margaret), her brother (George Edward Coppers Sr.), and numerous cousins. She is survived by Patricia Krutko and Mary Anne Bryning and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the fine people at Overland Court Nursing Home, Hospice, the Doctors at St. Alphonsus Hospital, Cloverdale Funeral Home of Boise, and Dwayne Spence Funeral Home in Canal-Winchester, Ohio. Cleora will be buried next to her husband at Betzer Cemetery of Lockville, Ohio, her home for 60+ years. We all love you dearly, Auntie, and may you go in peace.
