Dana Lynn True

May 31, 1955 ~ February 6, 2023 (age 67) 67 Years Old

Tribute

Dana Carter True was one of five siblings born into the Carter family. She welcomed the small town of Durango, Colorado for the first time on May 31, 1955 - just a few minutes after her twin brother, Mitch arrived.

When she was 12 years old the Carters moved to Calgary, Alberta where Dana attended Junior and High school. She was an avid skier in the years she spent in the Canadian Rockies.

She moved to Boise in 1975 to attend college at BSU.  She worked as a waitress at The Stagecoach where she met Terry, whom she would marry and acquire 2 bonus kids from, Jill (Jacee) and Shane. They also had 3 children together.
Dana was an incredible mother and grandmother who had a knack for making everyday life special; the fond memories she gave us from the countless holidays and birthdays are a treasure.

She greatly prioritized her family and intentionally gave of her time and energy to her children and grandchildren. She always desired to be involved in their lives and was many things to them throughout the years - a substitute teacher, cheerleader, chauffeur, seamstress, cook, loving nurse and much more. Her home was always open to family and friends, dinners, parties and card games.

After her kids finished school and moved from home she followed her dream to become a licensed massage therapist. Because of her deep concern for both patients and family alike, she became notorious for giving 3 hour massages while offering encouraging chat sessions.

Every day to Dana was an opportunity to share where her source of joy came from even as she bravely fought through her 3 year long battle with cancer.
She passed away into the Father’s arms on the morning of Monday, February 6th with family by her side.

We lovingly remember her for many things, but what we won’t forget is her unshakable faith and a prayer legacy she has left here for her children, grandchildren, and so many loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents Ken and Shirl Carter and is survived by her 4 siblings Mark, Christy (Tom), Mitch, Scott (Rebecca) and her 3 children, Matt (Sara), Derek (Amanda), Michelle (Paul) and her 7 cherished grandchildren.

The family is having a private burial at Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Journey Church on April 29th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please read her favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, and share it with someone else.
