Daniel Jonathan ‘Skyler’ Cobb was born August 21, 1971 at Seoul, Korea, the second child of missionaries Brent and Marty Cobb. He passed away July 4, 2018, before his forty-seventh birthday.

Growing up in South Korea, Daniel learned to speak the Korean language well. He attended Taejon Christian academy for his early elementary education. He and his family, which then also included sister Sara Jennifer, moved to Dallas, TX in 1980. He and Sara attended Samuel Place Christian School till the family moved to Sacramento, CA in 1983, along with newborn Adam Benjamin Cobb. Daniel attended Capital Christian School in Sacramento and acquired the nickname ‘Skyler.’

His family moved to Long Beach, CA in 1987. Skyler remained in Sacramento for a time to continue his schooling there. Later he joined his family in Long Beach. During that time Daniel began, and later completed, his GED.

The Cobb family moved to Seattle, WA in 1989. After a time, Daniel joined his family there, and later began studies at Northwest Nazarene University.

He completed his college education at Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA where he was on the crew (competitive rowing) team. He was elected student body president his senior year and completed his B.A. degree with a double major—‘Religious Studies’ and ‘Political Science.’

Skyler moved back to Nampa, ID in 1996 to be near his beloved sister Sara who had begun her studies at NNU in 1994, shortly after their parents and brother Adam moved to the Philippines for missionary service.

Skyler worked for Micron Computers in middle management, later worked in the coffee roasting business, and then the espresso machine business. He and Kim Walther were married June 30, 2001, making Skyler the step-dad to Kim’s darling daughter Sierra. Skyler and Kim’s son Kadin was born May 17, 2003.

At the time of his death, Daniel, a motorcycle enthusiast, was working at Harley-Davidson in Meridian.

He is survived by his son Kadin, step-daughter Sierra, parents Brent and Marty Cobb, sister Sara Jennifer Cobb, brother Adam Benjamin Cobb, and former wife Kim Walther Cobb.
