Be the first to offer your condolences on Darlene's Tribute Wall
Glenda Darlene Pierce, 76, of Eagle, ID passed through mortality on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 in Nampa, Idaho from natural causes.
Darlene, born October 3rd, 1946, at Whittier Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, CA to Fred Hawkins, Sr. and Glenda Bell. She was the youngest of four children; Richard (Dick), Roberta (Bobbie), and Fred, Jr. Darlene attended schools in Whittier, CA and finished at Sierra High School. Darlene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Darlene lived in California most of her growing-up years, except for a short time living in Alaska. She was able to help support her family financially with her in-home daycares, her love of children was apparent. In 1992, she and her husband Steve moved from Whittier, CA to Columbus, OH. Although she couldn’t run a day-care in Ohio, she was able to continue working with children as a school bus driver. She was at Columbus City Schools for about 12 years. It was in Ohio that she became an avid Buckeye’s fan. Her love of college football was vast, printing off all the college game day schedules from August through the first of the year with bowl games. After Steve’s death in 2005, she moved from Columbus to Meridian, Idaho to be close to family where she continued to drive a school bus and continued her college football craze. She retired from West Ada School District in 2015.
She is survived by her three children Paul Truex (Alicia) of Puyallup, WA, Scott Woolley of Santa Ana, CA, and Christina Riley (Ryan) of Meridian, ID; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her oldest brother Richard (Dick) Hawkins (Laura) of Caldwell, ID; as well as many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Steve (2005), parents Fred, Sr (1972) and Glenda (1997), sister Bobbie (2020), brother Fred, Jr (2018), and her beloved dogs Bonnie, Leah, and Chloe.
A memorial service for Darlene will be held on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at 11:00 am at Cloverdale Funeral Home – Gibson Chapel, 1200 N Cloverdale Rd, Boise, ID 83713. A luncheon will follow at the Cloverdale Event Center.
The family would like to thank Foxtail Senior Living for taking good care of her the last couple years of her life, Karcher Estates Rehab facility, and especially Saint Alphonsus Hospital, Nampa Campus for the great care and peaceful passing of our mom.
