Tribute

David Eric Eslinger (Dave) of Boise, Idaho passed away at 59 years of age shortly before his 60th birthday. The cause of his death was heart failure, apparently during his sleep.
He was born on July 30th 1962 in Idaho Falls. David lived in Portland, Oregon for over 30 years before moving to Boise. He never married but had several long-term relationships. David had several close friends who shared his interests. He was a very accomplished Chef being a graduate of the Western Culinary Institute. He worked at several upper-end hotels and restaurants. He also developed a turn-key restaurant startup which included remodeling the interior, planning the kitchen, and creating the menu. He was the Head Chef while he worked there.
His interests included: collecting samurai swords, target shooting with air guns, carpentry and wood working, hiking on trails, fishing, and cooking. In his younger years he enjoyed skateboarding - he would often go faster than what was safe and he crashed more than once. Another younger life interest was bike riding – he once rode his bike to the Oregon Coast and back from Portland. He also enjoyed the safe sport of ‘medieval combat’ with foam covered plastic swords.
He was very smart – a bit of an intellectual, and did a number of writings including some interesting poems and short stories. He enjoyed doing research on his favorite topics and learning new things including short phrases in Latin.
David loved animals especially cats which he had many of over the years. He loved the simple things in life like having a good expresso while enjoying the serenity of a large backyard. He also enjoyed quality chocolates, books and good movies. He had a good sense of humor too.
The immediate family had a celebration of life but there will not be a public service.
He is survived by mother Rolita, brothers Rod and Kelly, and sister Liz. David was greatly loved by all. He will be missed and never forgotten.
