Dennis Michael Schneider

Dennis Michael Schneider, 63, of Boise, Idaho passed away on May 19, 2023 from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Mike was born March 18, 1960 to Dennis and Judith Schneider in Lincoln, NE.  He was the third child out of 5.  He grew up in Lincoln, NE playing golf at Hillcrest Country Club.  After graduating from Lincoln East High School, he attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln majoring in chemical engineering for the first three years.  After taking an accounting course his junior year, he decided to change his major and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1985.
Mike’s first accounting job took him to Goodland, Kansas where he worked for a year before moving to Danville, CA to work for Peat Marwick.  While living in the East Bay Area, he met his future wife, Jean, and they were married January 2, 1988.

Mike and Jean began their life together living in Carmichael, CA.  He worked for Bartig, Basler, and Rey while completing the requirements to become a CPA.  After working as an accountant for a short time he decided to attend California State University, Sacramento to complete a master’s degree in business administration in 1994.  Mike and Jean bought a house in Roseville where their first three children, April (1991), Anne (1993), and Joseph (1994) were born.  In 1995, Mike took a job in North Platte, NE moving the family there.  Their fourth child, John, was born in 1996 and they lived in North Platte for 7 years while Mike’s career in medical management blossomed. In 2002, Mike took a job with the Family Residency of Idaho as a Financial manager moving the family to Boise, Idaho.  Here they raised their four children.  Mike loved living in Boise because he loved being near the mountains.  His passions in life were riding his road bike, skate skiing, and playing golf.  He and his wife raised their children in the Christian church.  It was important to Mike that his children know God through faith in Jesus.  

In 2016, Mike was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.  He lived at home with his wife until March of 2023 when he was admitted to Foxtail Memory Care.  There he was cared for by a loving and gentle staff until his death.

Mike is predeceased by an older sibling, Joseph Schneider, his father, Dennis Schneider, his father-in-law, Bill Tyson Jr., and his brother-in-law, Bill Tyson III.  He is survived by his wife, Jean Schneider; his children, April Schneider, Anne Rank (Jordan), Joe Schneider, and John Schneider; his grandson, Elias Rank; his mother, Judith Schneider; his siblings, Cece Norton (Brian), Bill Schneider (Vera), and Elizabeth Hastreiter; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Tyson and sibling-in-laws, Peter Tyson (Sandy), Ann Williamson (Curt), and Judy Mackanic (Jim).

Services will be held at Friendship Celebration Lutheran Church at 10 AM, May 24, 2023.  There will be a visitation beginning at 9 AM. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Boise Bicycle Project, an organization in which Mike was involved.
