Dolores Elaine Shay

Dolores Elaine Shay, 91, passed away after a two-year battle with Leukemia. Her family was by her side.

Dolores was born September 29, 1926 on her parent’s farm outside of Norcatur, Kansas, the first of nine children. She attended a one room school house until she moved into town where she attended high school, where she was in a graduating class of eight students. During this time, she lived and worked for the family so that she could be able to attend school.

Dolores first married in 1944 and from her marriage had four children, John, Carol, Sharon, and Mike. After many moves and many years, she later settled in Boise, ID where she met Eric Rostock who became her life-long partner of almost 50 years.

Dolores proudly retired from the Sears department store after 25 years of service. During her time there she made many friends and continued to have monthly lunches with her girlfriends for decades. Dolores loved to sew and quilt, leaving her family and friends with many beautiful reminders of her in their homes. An avid reader, Dolores loved a good book and crosswords were a daily event. She also so enjoyed the pool in her North End home where she swam most warm days and was able to share time with her family and friends.

Always a basketball and baseball fan, Eric would always purchase the sports package to ensure that Dolores could catch all her favorite games each season. She loved to travel, and she and Eric spent many vacations traveling to visit her sisters and spent many winters at her son’s house in Lake Havasu to escape the cold Boise weather.

Dolores will live on in the memories of her family who loved and cherished her dearly. They are comforted knowing that she acknowledged Jesus as her Savior and that they will be reunited with her again.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9th at the Cloverdale Funeral Home. There will be a reception immediately following the service at the funeral home.
