Donald Lee Dunham of Boise, Idaho, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, after reaching the age of 91. He passed away peacefully in his sleep with his beloved wife Zella and daughter Colleen by his side.
Don was born on February 4, 1929 in Pratt, Kansas to Sherman and Lucy Dunham and came to Weiser, Idaho in 1938. While a student at Weiser High School he was involved in many athletics. After graduating from Weiser High School in 1947, he moved to Oregon.
In 1949, he met the love of his life, Zella Dunham, in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. They married on June 30, 1950. They lived together inseparable for 70 years. While in Oregon, Don worked in the lumber industry and retired from Champion International as a Regional Employee Relations Manager. He took pride in his work and worked tirelessly to provide for his family.
His job took him to several cities in Oregon and Redding, California. Together Don and Zella raised two children, Colleen Wilt and Richard Dunham.
Avid golfers, Don and Zella enjoyed many years traveling to Yuma, Arizona during the winter months to live on a course, enjoy the sun, and play golf nearly every day together. Don also enjoyed his weekly poker games. He never stopped helping the community and spent his free time passing his love of the game onto others by volunteering as the course marshal. His claim to fame is four Hole -in-Ones.
In 2018, they returned to Boise, Idaho to be closer to their daughter, son, grandson, and great grandchildren, where they lived until his death.
He was a strong patriarch of his family, a good friend to all, and a man who would give his shirt for a friend. He was a good father who always took care of his children and did the best he could to teach and guide them. He was a loving grandfather and great-grandfather to many.
Don was a strong, proud, and good man. His is loved and will be missed by many!
He is preceded in death by his parents Sherman Dunham and Lucy Dunham, brother Frances Dunham, and Verna Evans.
Don Dunham is survived by his loving wife, Zella Dunham of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; children, Colleen Wilt of Boise, Idaho, Rick Dunham of Hayden Lake, Idaho; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and other beloved friends and relatives.
