Tribute

Donna W. Russell

Donna Winifred May Russell passed away peacefully at a Boise care facility on April 26, 2019, at the age of 98.
Donna was born in Denver, Colorado on March 23, 1921 to George May and Eva Andersen May. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to southern California. Over the next few years, Donna was joined by three sisters, Arlene, Maxine, and Mary.
While the girls were growing up, the family moved often, living in California, Washington, and Idaho, as George looked for and followed work. The family finally settled in Boise in the early 1940s.
During the World War II years, Donna met Earl Russell, who was briefly stationed at Gowen Field with the Army Air Corps. They were married at the home of his sister in Sacramento, California on June 2, 1945.
After the war, Donna and Earl lived in Sacramento where their daughter Donna was born. In the early 1950s they moved to Boise where their son Gordon was born.
While Earl built houses, Donna raised kids and busied herself with volunteer work. She was a Brownie Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mom. She also worked with the St. Alphonsus Auxiliary. After Earl passed away in 1988, Donna enjoyed spending time on her sewing projects and caring for grandchildren.
Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Earl (H.E. Russell); her parents, George and Eva May; sisters Arlene Regensberg Graham and Maxine May. She is survived by her children, Donna (Wayne) Oyama and Gordon Russell; granddaughters Elizabeth (Jeremy) Adams, Rochell Russell, and Stephanie (David) Manee. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to your favorite charity.
