Tribute

Dorothy Holt Haga, a beloved wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the age of 97. She passed away swiftly and peacefully at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, Idaho, following a stroke and fall in her home in Boise, Idaho.

Dorothy was born on 2/27/1924 in Norfolk, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Eva and John; her sister, Frances; and her two sons, Thomas Holt Haga & Richard Gray Haga. She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Robert Rouse Haga, her 3 grandsons, Robert Holt Haga of Boise, Idaho, Edwinn James Haga of Layton, Utah and Cole Gray Haga of Tucson, AZ, her great-granddaughter, Clio Thomas Haga, her daughter-in-law, Nancy Pile Haga and her granddaughter-in-law, Katie Mooney Haga.

Dorothy was an accomplished concert violinist, having graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Maryland. She majored in Fine Arts from William & Mary College in Williamsburg, Virgina. There she caught the eye of a handsome young Navy veteran, Bobby Haga, after he returned from his tour of duty on a mine-sweeper during the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France. They were married on March 4, 1948 in her home in Norfolk, VA. Over the years, she performed in a number of philharmonic orchestras, including Norfolk, VA., Newark, NJ., Reno, NV., and Houston, TX., where she was selected as the prestigious 1st chair violinist.

Dottie will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but we are comforted knowing that she is wrapped in the loving arms of her beloved sons who preceded her in death.
