Dorothy Joyce Talley

January 20, 1943 ~ September 4, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

On Sept 4, 2021, our mother, wife, sister and friend, Dorothy Joyce Macomb Talley, passed away at home, surrounded by her family. Joyce was born on a very cold day, January 20, 1943, to Tom Macomb and Dorothy Krueger Macomb, the middle child of three. She attended Sunnyside Grade School and graduated from Weiser High School in 1961. After high school she went to work for Donert and Donert Attorneys at Law and then First National Bank. On March 3, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Vernon Talley. Joyce and Vernon were blessed with two daughters, Theresa in 1962 and Tracie in 1966. Joyce then worked part-time for Jackson and Adams, CPA. She really enjoyed being a mother and always said it was the greatest blessing in her life. The family enjoyed many drives through the countryside or into the mountains for fire roasted hot dogs. She was a good listener and counseled many who needed advice or just someone to talk to. In 1972 Vernon and Joyce, along with Vern’s brother Butch, purchased a glass, upholstery and canvas business from Vern’s employer, Earl Johns. In 1976, when Talley Brothers dissolved, Vernon and Joyce opened Idaho Glass and Upholstery. Joyce worked side by   side with Vern for more than 27 years until they sold the business in 2003. Joyce then went to work for Mt. States Chemical Dependency and Counseling Services in Nampa and Vern continued to work at the store until they both retired in 2008. She loved her job and enjoyed meeting new people and listening to their stories. She was never short on advice and her wisdom helped many who visited with her. In 2014 Joyce and Vern built a house with their daughter, Theresa, in Boise to be closer to family. Many family dinners, birthday celebrations, get-togethers and holidays were enjoyed with the whole family now that they were all living in Boise. Still, none were as special as Christmas at Grandma’s house. She enjoyed her grandchildren and spent many happy days with them on the farm. Vern and Joyce were, and still are, members of Rods of Idaho and Oregon, and enjoyed many rod-runs, car shows and friendships with the group.
She had strong beliefs and was fierce when it came to her love of her family and her love for the Lord. When she had lost her parents and siblings, she always said it felt strange to be the only one of her clan to be left. It gives us a sense of happiness that she is reunited again. She will be so greatly missed.
Joyce was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Macomb, father, Tom Macomb, brother, Gary Macomb, sister, Glenna Leach, father-in-law, Albert Talley, and mother-in-law Jewel Talley.
She is survived by her husband of more than 59 years, Vernon Talley, daughter, Theresa (Todd) Funkhouser, daughter Tracie (Randy) Carney; grandchildren Kara Gibson, Tyler (Farren) Gibson, Logan Gibson, Hope Gibson, Reilly (Nicole) Funkhouser, Carley (Paxton) McCamish, Bradley Funkhouser, Kelsey (Benjamin) Salinas, Nick (Reiley Ney) Carney, Matt Carney, and Ryann Carney; great grandchildren Brynlee Gibson, Bennett Funkhouser, Jaxson McCamish, Easton Salinas and Relvy Salinas.
