Tribute

Edith Amelia Gauby was born on May 30, 1935 in Center, Iowa to Joe and Laura Buckingham. She grew up on several farms in the area before the family settled down in Libertyville, IA. As the 9th of 12 children she fondly remembered following her 2 brothers around and jumping out of hay lofts, likely while trying to stay out of sight of her sisters and the chores that came along with that time.

Edith attended McPherson College in McPherson, KS where she met and fell in love with Martin Gauby. They married on June 5, 1956 and spent 60 years together before his death. They pastored Church of the Brethren congregations in Oregon, Indiana, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas and Texas and as the pastor’s wife she stayed busy with church activities and family. She enjoyed traveling, her Prayer Group, knitting, puzzles and books.

She is survived by 3 sisters, Bernice Ogden, Chris Boyenga and Doris Epperson. Her children, Norma Lockner, Sid (Kathy) Gauby, and Jeff Gauby. Grandchildren Tim (Jolene Crumley) Lockner, Ryan (Tara) Lockner, Kyle (Melissa) Gauby, Kacie (Jeremy) Noyes, Austin Gauby, Caitlin Gauby, and Mason Gauby. Great-Grandchildren, Drew Lockner, Ethan Lockner, Owen Gauby, Henry Gauby, Max Lockner, Amelia Noyes and Fletcher Gauby. The family would like to thank everyone who welcomed her into their lives.
