Tribute

Elinor Louise Pilcher 08-31-1928 - 7-21-2022

Our beloved mother of 93 years of age passed away on Thursday July 21, 2022.

She will be missed by so many but she is now rejoicing in heaven with Jesus and all her loved ones who have gone before her.

Elinor was born and raised in Longmont Colorado. She was the firstborn daughter of Herbert and Mildred Deighton, soon followed by Don, Mary Alice and Rick.

Elinor was attending beauty school in Denver driving back and forth to Longmont.  One fateful day as she was driving, she met the love of her life Duane Pilcher.  He was stationed at Lowry Airforce base and was hitchhiking to meet his current girlfriend in Longmont.  Elinor changed the course of his life as he realized he had been picked up by a beautiful young woman who eventually became his wife.  They married on Oct 3, 1946.

Elinor and Duane’s firstborn son Gregory Pilcher was born in 1947 followed by Judith 1950, Karen 1953 and Janet 1954.

Elinor and Duane ended up settling in Boise, Idaho in 1949.

Mom and Dad loved their family dearly and knew how important family time was.  They took each of us to church every Sunday and instilled the love of God in our lives.  Family vacations were so important most of them were camping trips to the beautiful Idaho mountains, the Oregon coast, Colorado and the big trip to Disneyland.

Mom also loved traveling and went to Hawaii with Dad, Greece with her dear friend Barbara and a trip to Spain with Janny.

Mom had many talents and loves. She would sew all of our clothes when we were young and then took up knitting and crocheting.  She knitted over 300 sweaters for children over the world through Guideposts.

Mom instilled a love of music in each of us and sang in her church choir for many years. Every Saturday as we did our chores, we would all sing songs with our record player.

When we were still in school, Mom had a love of caring for people and she decided to become a nurse.  She went back to school for her LPN license and cared for others for the next 20 years.

On Oct 9, 2001 Mom lost the love of her life, Duane.  She never remarried and continued to be a light in all of our lives.

Our Mom faithfully attended the Methodist church for 60 years until she could no longer drive

Her precious family survivors are as listed:

We would like to thank Heart and Home Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for our mom.

We had some incredible caregivers, Judy Allen, Terry Brown, Patty Flowers and Jessica Howie. We want to especially recognize Judy Allen as she was a loyal and lovely help to Mom these past 10 months.  She would make meals for our mom and at the end even provided meals for us as well. Our mom loved her as do we.
