Farris Chism passed away peacefully surrounded by family in his daughter’s home on September 10, 2020 in Boise Idaho at the age of 88.
Survived by his daughters, Connie Chism Westphal and Terri Jo Chism, his son-in law, Chuck Westphal, his five grandchildren, Tori, Jessie, Seth, Charlie and Emily, remaining siblings, Finis “Shorty” Chism, Chloe Kulhman, sister-in-law, Kay Chism, and many friends and loved ones.
Born in the cotton fields of Missouri on April 26, 1932. He served 9 years in the U.S Army as a Korean War Veteran, and earned the rank of Sergeant First Class. Farris worked 32 years as a Master Elevator Constructor for Otis Elevators. Noteworthy projects include, Foreman on the construction of the New Orleans Superdome and the 75-story skyscraper, Texas Commerce Tower, currently the tallest 5-sided building in the world.
A Devout Believer, loving father, grandfather and brother, he was known for his witty sense of humor, a strong handshake and a pocket full of candies. Farris will be missed by many, but we are all comforted in knowing he is now forever in The Father’s embrace.
A visitation is scheduled for Monday September 14, 2020 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. No reception will be held. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Farris’s life and homecoming. Flowers may be sent to Cloverdale Funeral Home, Boise Idaho and condolences may be sent to the family home or the funeral home to forward.
