Frank W, Carlson, 86, passed away on April 23rd at home.

 

Frank was born June 3, 1934 in New York City to Gertrude (Carlson) Graziano.  Frank was 15 when he and his Mom moved to Creskill, NJ where he attended and graduated from Tenafly High School in 1952.  He joined the Navy that summer and received his basic training in Bainbridge, MD.  During Frank’s 20 years of service he was aboard the USS Macon, USS Murray, USS Eaton, USS prevail, LT2085, and the USS Hornet.  He retired from the Fleet Training Group in 1972 with the rank of EM1 (E6).

 

Following his retirement from the Navy, Frank worked for San Diego Gas & Electric from 1972 to 1976.  In 1976 he went to work for KFC as a technical representative installing and repairing cookers and was assigned to the Northwest Territory based in Boise.  In 1977 Frank received an offer from Welch Foods in Kennewick, WA as a Maintenance Supervisor which he accepted.  He remained with them until 1980 when he received an offer from Miller Brewing in Irwindale, CA.  Frank worked there until 1984.  Frank then opened his own business building and repairing PCs until he retired in 1996 at the age of 62.

 

Frank married Phyllis LePinnet in 1956 with whom he had three children: Donald, David, and Debra.  Frank and Phyllis divorced in 1962.  Donald, David, and Debra were adopted by her second husband, Fred Thompson, in 1966.

 

Frank met Lorayne (Fahey) Moore when he moved to Boise in 1976.  Frank and Lorayne spent the next 45 years together.  They married November 10, 1984 in Upland, CA.  Frank and Lorayne returned to Boise after Lorayne retired in 2009.

 

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Lorayne; his son Donald Thompson of Tempe, AZ; his son David Thompson of Cave Creek, AZ; his daughter Debra (Thompson) Knechtel of Highlands Ranch, CO.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
