James Calkins

James Robert Calkins passed away in his home in Meridian, Idaho, of natural causes at the age of 63. He enjoyed taking scenic drives and was always cracking jokes. Jim joined the Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller after graduating high school. He later attended Officer Training School and rejoined the Air Force as a pilot.  His family has many fond memories during their life together in Illinois, Delaware, Texas, Germany, Iowa, and Idaho. Upon retiring as a Major from the Air Force in 2001, he worked as a pilot for Fed Ex Corporation. 

Jim always had a love of planes and spent countless hours at the end of a runway watching airplanes take off and land.  Jim always took excellent care to record his family's daily life and special occasions on video.  These videos will be treasured by his family for the rest of their lives.  Jim is survived by his wife of two years, Donna Ho Calkins; his children:  Mackenzie Calkins (husband Erik Karjala), Dustin Calkins, and Brooke Calkins Lucas (husband Jeff Lucas); his father Robert Calkins, and siblings Dan Calkins (wife Toni Calkins),and Laura Calkins Rogers (husband John Rogers).  

Jim will be missed very much, and his family hopes that he has now found peace.
