James L. Stivers was born on July 2, 1948 and lived until he didn’t. Jim died at home with grace and dignity on May 4, 2019. The most important things to Jim were God, family and country. He was a strong man and always remembered what he stood for! His pride and joy were centered around his wife, Callae; children, Greg, Shayla and Sara; his grandchildren, Miles, Mikayla, Kyzer, TJ, Chris, Seth and Dakota and his great-grandchildren, Talon and Jhace.
Jim had a strong sense of what he considered right or wrong and followed the book down to the “T”. He was easily frustrated and quick-tempered but once he had his say, it was done. He was very opinionated and let everyone know that it was the right one to have! He also was kind-hearted, loyal and cared deeply about his people.
Jim loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing at Tripod, Horsethief and Anderson Dam. He spent over 25 years hunting with “the guys” at their spot near Grangeville. Since 2011 his favorite place was his cabin on 1 1//2 acres just outside of Cascade. He was a great watchman and protector, continuously patrolling the property perimeters both at the cabin and at the home in Boise.
Jim enjoyed the IRLEA luncheons and visiting with his old-timer BPD brothers. He was a BSU Bronco fan and liked watching the games on TV. He was definitely a boisterous arm-chair coach! In between games, he was always watching the western channel or a “New” John Wayne movie.
Jim really liked to eat! His favorite foods were Toni’s banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, malt balls and Old Faithful candy bars which he ate first, then meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. He could grill a tasty steak and was really good at making Sweedish pancakes.
Jim never quit until the job was finished in a quality manner!
