Jay Royal Browne, 80, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2018, at his home in Boise, Idaho. Born in Ogden, Utah, on August 29, 1937, his fondest childhood memory was summers spent fly fishing and horseback riding at the family cabin in Logan Canyon. He married JoAnn Blair in 1956, and they welcomed daughter Kim that same year. Blaine was born in 1959, Carol in 1962, and twins Terry and Jerry in 1964. Jerry passed away as a premature infant, and Terry brought great joy to the family until his death in June of 1986.
After ten years of working for the Ogden Union Railway, Jay began a lifetime career in insurance. He loved knowing and serving his clients as an independent agent, and only considered retiring at his 80th birthday. In his late 20s, Jay took up lifetime passions of skiing and golf. He skied into his 70s and golfed his final round on Memorial Day.
In 1974, Jay moved to Boise with second wife, Randee Minnoch Browne. In 1978, Jay welcomed a second set of twins, Megan and Amanda. The greatest transformation of Jay’s life began in 1984 when he trusted in Jesus as his Savior. He and Randee embarked together on the journey of knowing Jesus Christ through the Bible. They counted this as the key to their successful marriage. At his death, we found Acts 4:12 in his handwriting, “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Jay Browne and Mary Clark Browne, five of his siblings, sons Terry and Jerry, grandson Corbin, and great grandson Kasen. He is survived by brother Dean, sister Deanna, wife Randee, former wife JoAnn, five children and their spouses, and many grand and great grandchildren. A service will be held at Heritage Bible Church on Friday, June 8, at 11:00 AM. 7071 W. Emerald, Boise, Idaho.
