Tribute

James R. Nall (Jim) passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2021 surrounded by his family. A beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky shortly after.

Jim was born on October 23, 1933 in Boise, Idaho to James and Sally Nall, joining older sister Sally Jane. Jim grew up in the north end attending school at Lowell Elementary, North Junior High and Boise High School graduating in 1952. He played basketball for the Boise Braves and then continued his playing career at Idaho State University and Boise Junior College. He was a starter on the BJC team that took 4th place at the JUCO National Tournament. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

While in the navy, Jim hitchhiked home from San Francisco to marry his high school sweetheart, Sherri Wyman, on May 26, 1954. Theirs was one of the world’s greatest love stories.

After his honorable discharge from the navy, Jim returned to college and graduated from San Jose State University. Shortly after, he and Sherri returned to Boise where he started his career in insurance joining his Dad, Jim Sr., as an agent for Farmers Insurance where he eventually became a district manager. After leaving Farmers Insurance, Jim joined the WW Deal Agency in Nampa. He later served on the board of United Heritage Insurance.

Jim loved sports especially the Boise State University Broncos. He loved the Lord and was an active member of the University Christian Church, which later became Parkview Christian Church, serving in many leadership positions. His favorite place to be was at his cabin in Donnelly. He also enjoyed camping and trips to Hawaii and the Oregon coast. Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Dad and playing golf with family and friends. Family was everything to Jim and he supported his daughters and later their spouses as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren in their school activities and sporting events.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sherri, and his daughters, Debbi Whittemore (Ray), Christi Simon (Gary), Tammi Kildow (Chris), Lori Griffith (Dorman) and Juli Nall-Golden.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and a special nephew, Bob Gregory.
