Tribute

JoAnne Margaret “Jody” Hoseley, 79, of Boise, passed away early Saturday morning, November 24, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise. Friends are invited to visit Sunday, December 2nd, from 4 to 5 pm at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Fr. Gerald Funke will celebrate Jody’s funeral mass at 10 am Monday, December 3rd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 811 S. Latah Street in Boise. Graveside services will follow in Cloverdale Memorial Park.
Jody was born on March 12, 1939, at Boise, to Clyde and Mary (Shroyer) Lawrence. When Clyde was declared dead after the Wake Island invasion, Mary remarried James Olin Barnes, who adopted and raised Jody. Jody met the love of her life, Larry Gene Hoseley, in first grade at Garfield Elementary. After Jody graduated from Boise High School in 1957, the two married on Jan. 14, 1958.
Jody made homes in many places including Washington, California, Idaho and British Columbia. She was a great cook and enjoyed family celebrations. As a homemaker and seamstress, she made most of her young children’s clothes and many wedding dresses for family. She loved her red roses, gardening, canning and preserving. She will be remembered fondly by the many quilts she made for her family. She enjoyed her horses and music, camping and fishing with family, and living on the family ranch southeast of Boise. After her children started school, she worked various jobs including owning and operating Jody’s Grooming on Broadway for over 25 years but she most enjoyed serving as the music director at Boise’s Our Lady of the Rosary and Sacred Heart churches.
Jody had a great love for her family and a special bond with her grandmother, Margaret Ann “Meme” Shroyer. In turn, she adored all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Jody is survived by two fine sons, Larry “Skip” (Teri), and Noel “Butch”, both of Boise; and her daughter, Cindy (Jim) Zimmerman, of Moscow; three granddaughters, Heather (Brian) Hadwick, of Alturas CA; Tiffany Rader, of Lehi, UT; and Lindsey Hoseley, of Kuna; five grandsons, Will (Sarah), of Klamath Falls OR; John (Jeannie) of Dorris CA; Jesse, of Boise; and Cory and Justin, of Mountain Home; her sister, Nancy (Will) Archer of Weston OR; two brothers, Jim (Diane) Barnes of Beaverton OR; and Nolin Barnes, of Springfield OR; ten great-grandchildren, Zack & Sam Hadwick, Brad and Shane Raiser, Monique and Jack, Travis and Sofia Hoseley, Riley and Makenzee Close; and her special friend, Sandy Burgess, of Boise, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry, her parents and grandparents and one great-grandson.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the caring nurses and physicians at St. Luke’s and the Elk’s for their excellent care during Jody’s final days.
