Karla Rae Chester

January 21, 2019

Tribute

Karla Chester was born Karla Rae Schildhauer to Hans and Helen Schildhauer in the town of Plankinton, South Dakota, where she lived on her family farm before relocating to Idaho in 1955.  Karla married her first husband Ronald Roberts in 1957 and together they had four children. Karla married her second husband, Dalice Chester in 1979 and together they bought a farm in Meridian, Idaho where they lived for 22 years. After selling the farm in Meridian, they purchased a farm in Melba, Idaho where they spent their remaining years.

Karla worked for the Veterans Hospital for 30 years and also served in the National Guard.  Karla was very hard working and often times after putting in a full day at her job at the hospital would come home and work until dark on the farm. She loved caring for her animals almost as much as she loved caring for her people.  She was a huge NASCAR fan and often traveled with her husband to see the races live and in person.

Always being there to support those she loved, she would often put others needs before her own. There are no words that can express the depth of her devotion to her family.

Karla is preceded in death by her husband Dalice Chester, her son Perry Roberts and her parents Hans Schildhauer and Helen Austin and Step father Chesley Austin. Karla is survived by her two sons Marty Roberts, Darrell Roberts, and her daughter Christina Anderson, as well as eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held for Karla at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Wednesday January 30th 2019 at 1:00 with graveside services following at 2:00 at Cloverdale Memorial Park.

A reception will be held at Harvest Church in Meridian at 831 N Main St, Meridian, Idaho.
