Kathleen “Kaye” June Petri was born on Tuesday, June 30, 1941. She passed away at the age of 78 surrounded by her children on Friday, August 30, 2019, after a long struggle with dementia. Kaye is survived by her brother, five children, seventeen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Kaye was born in Boise, Idaho. She went to school at Pierce Park Elementary, West Jr. High and Boise High School. She married at age 16 and spent the next six years in California, Tennessee and Japan. Kaye returned to Idaho where she lived the rest of her life. One of her proudest moments was when she started working at Idaho First Bank in Boise. She was laid off after 20 years when Idaho First Bank was acquired. Kaye worked for TSA and as an at home caregiver until dementia forced her to retire. Kaye loved being a mother and was fiercely protective of her children. She was an avid bowler, loved fishing and camping and tootling around the mountains on her motorcycle. Later in life, when she could sit still for more than five minutes, she became quite accomplished at crocheting and cross stitch. Slap stick comedy would make her laugh until she cried and she would dance around the house while listening to the current music of the day. She always had a pet around to love and has passed that love of animals on to her family. She also passed on her love of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and buttered corn on the cob. Every time we get together we reminisce about her cooking, which none of us can duplicate. There are some things that only Mom could do. Kaye left us to join her parents, sister and her baby, Julie. We like to think of her holding Julie, planning mischief with her sister and trying to hide it from her parents; happy and care free again. Please join us for Kaye’s outdoor service and internment at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
