Kerri Van de Wetering

April 3, 1968 ~ May 29, 2020 (age 52) 52 Years Old

Tribute

Kerri Lynn Van de Wetering was born in Clarkston, Washington on April 3, 1968 to Gary and Sharon Locke. She then moved to Pocatello, Idaho where she lived until the fifth grade.  She then spent her middle school years in Cascade, Idaho and then eventually moved to Fruitland, Idaho where she graduated from Fruitland High School.
During her high school years, she made many great friends and it was at that time where she discovered her ability to play basketball. She set scoring records in the Idaho State tournament and was an all-league and all-state player. She then spent the next four years playing and attending school at Northwest Nazarene College. She had a successful career and earned a degree in business.
After college Kerri was employed at Farm Credit for four years in Caldwell, Idaho and for First Interstate Bank in Caldwell for four years. It was at that time she met her husband Ryan Van de Wetering. She stayed with Edward Jones Investments in Boise for 19 years. During this time, she and Ryan had their two sons, Tyler who was born in 2001, and Cody who was born in 2004 in Nampa, Idaho.
Kerri loved spending time with her family and particularly liked watching her sons participate in their school and sporting activities. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and loved going to church and spending time with her parents, Gary and Sharon Locke.
Kerri had many friends and loved camping trips, trips to the condo in Cascade, but most of all loved hiking with her hiking group, “The Summit Sisters”. She would go on many hikes all around the state and loved spending time in the wilderness with her fellow hikers. It was one of the things that truly made her happy and she was very appreciative of the ladies in this group.
Kerri loved her family very much and cherished the times and memories, especially the cruises she got to take, the trips to Arizona to see her parents, Seattle to see her Aunt Carol and grandparents, and California to visit Ryan’s parents were always highlights for her. She also enjoyed her trip to Duke University for her 50th birthday where she got to watch her beloved Blue Devils play in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Kerri was an avid sports fan where college basketball and football ruled the day.  Going to BSU football games and watching college sports on television were definitely on the top of her list.
She is survived by her husband, Ryan, two sons Tyler and Cody of Nampa; parents, Gary and Sharon Locke; and one brother, Brian (Trina) Locke of Yakima, Washington.
The family will attend a private funeral service at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
A public Celebration of Kerri’s Life will be held on July 25, 2020 at The First Church of the Nazarene at a time to be decided. Please refer back to this obituary for details.
