Lavona Shawver Weaver, 90, of Star, Idaho passed away Thursday April 30th, 2020 with loved ones at her side. She was born October 13, 1929 in Boise, Idaho to Howard and Marie (Monteith) Shawver. She lived much of her life on the family farm near Perkins Corner, attending Boise schools and graduating from Boise High School in 1947. She later attended Boise Jr College where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Lavona married Arley Weaver on November 29, 1953. They first lived in Indiana where Arley was stationed in the military, later moving back to Boise where she worked for several years until their children, Janet and Bruce were born. She was active in the First Baptist Church, singing in the choir, teaching vacation Bible School and Sunday school. Lavona went back to work and spent a number of years working for the Idaho National Guard Credit Union until she retired in 1988. She and Arley moved to Round Valley, Idaho where they were active in the Alpha Grange and the Baptist Church. Lavona and Arley were also active in the Idaho State Grange where they both held several state offices and attended national conferences. Lavona had a can-do spirit and would take on most challenges. She could fix almost anything and took on many projects to keep herself busy. She loved sewing, cooking, quilting, knitting, and gardening. Lavona was a life-long learner and teacher. She was especially proud of her granddaughters and loved keeping track of their accomplishments and attending their school, FFA and 4-H activities. She lived a serving and purposeful life. Lavona moved to Star, Idaho after Arley’s death in 2006 to be near her children and grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers: Don (Brenda) Shawver and James Shawver, a sister Elaine (Bob) Douglas, daughter Janet Weaver and son Bruce (Brenda) Weaver, two granddaughters Kelsey and Carly Weaver and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Country Time Assisted Living in Star and Harrisons Hope Hospice for all their care and support in Lavona’s last months. Family Services will be held at Cloverdale Cemetery and a memorial service will be held later this summer to celebrate her life.
