Tribute

Larry was born March 8, 1943 in Boise, Idaho to Walter and Frances Good. He attended Whitney Elementary, South Junior High, and graduated from Borah High School. He went on to Boise Junior College and Idaho State University where he rode the train between Boise and Pocatello.

While growing up, Larry loved going to summer survey camp with Walter and his crew in Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon. He served in the Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968 in Vietnam. His work included Forest Service fire lookout on Whitehawk, Shafer Butte, Jackson Peak, and Bennett Mountain, Forest Service warehouseman, communications radios at NIFC, and mechanic and bus driver at Bogus Basin.

Larry loved to talk and loved dogs, especially black labs. He was stubborn and wary and tremendously generous to his family. He had a huge library of books on many topics. He had an awesome memory and storehouse of knowledge including geology, geography, archaeology, history, tools, and guns and ammunitions. He could figure out how to fix almost anything. Larry could be curmudgeon and loved to tell stories that grew more wild and dramatic over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter Good (1971) and Frances Roach (2008), his sister Cathy Good (2018), and brother John Good (2008). He is survived by his wife Carolyn Good, daughter Laura Woodall, son Colin Good and wife Korisa Good, grandchildren Connor Woodall, Sawyer Woodall, Maximus Good, and Quinn Good.

There will be a service at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho on Thursday, April 6th at 10AM. Guests are invited to bring an interesting rock in honor of Larry.
The family would like to thank Garden Valley Paramedics, Dr. Roy, and the many nurses and therapists who took care of him over the years at the VA. And thank you to the MICU staff at St. Luke’s.
