Lynn Doreen Martinez

February 18, 1955 ~ October 7, 2018 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Tribute

Lynn Doreen (Blunt) Martinez went home to her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2018 after losing her battle. Her caregiver and sister, Shelly Hough was by her side the entire time.
She was born on February 18, 1955 to Wendell Harrison and Harriet Luan (Nichols) Blunt in Boise, Idaho.
Lynn loved her San Francisco 49er’s and Giants! While in California she met the love of her life. Roger Martinez soon asked Lynn to be his beloved wife and life companion. They married on June 13, 1987 at our parents’ home in Boise, Idaho. They moved to Caldwell in 2004 to be close to our dad whose health was failing.
She loved Roger through thick and thin. They loved to go fishing and camping, play the roulette games in Jackpot and being with our family. She was an avid bowler even though her vision was very limited.
Between the two of them, they kept the rest of the family hopping and scrambling to make sure they were okay. Lynn had endometrial cancer in 2008 as well as cervical cancer. She went through radiation and was well. She had Graves disease of the thyroid. She had treatment to kill the thyroid and the disease moved to her eyes which made her eyesight very bad.
In 2016 she was diagnosed with large B cell lymphoma. She underwent R-Chop chemotherapy and beat it. In March 2018 Lynn was diagnosed with Secondary Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) 5q minus which is failure of the bone marrow. We met with the transplant team in Seattle at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in June and determined she would have a bone marrow stem cell transplant. The MDS rapidly advanced in to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She had the G-Glem chemotherapy treatment to put the AML in remission.
With such harsh treatments and have high fevers, her heart was not able to withstand the stress of the illnesses. She had struggled to beat the disease and get her transplant, but that was not in the cards.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Wendell & Harriett Blunt, her oldest sister Wendie Gay Loshbaugh as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband Roger Martinez of Caldwell, sister Shelly Hough (Don) of Boise, daughter Shannon and her favorite grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Services will be on Friday October 12, 2018 at 3:00 pm with the viewing on Friday 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Services are going to be at Cloverdale Funeral Home 1200 N Cloverdale Rd, Boise, Idaho with graveside service at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens.
I want to acknowledge and thank the marvelous staff at SCCA and UDUB who took great care of my sister during her time there. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Be The Match or to the MDS AML Foundations.
