Margaret Jean Brodin

Margaret was born in Emmett, Idaho on July 10th, 1932, the first of two children to Lloyd and Frances Horn. Her family later moved to Boise, Idaho where she attended Garfield Elementary, North Junior High, and graduated from Boise High School in 1950. In 1952, Margaret married Leonard Claus Brodin and together they had three sons who made their lives complete. Margaret worked outside the home for five years for Mountain States Telephone Company as an operator. Margaret joined Euclid Nazarene Church in August 1960 and was still a member at the time of her death.

Margaret loved others and spoke kindly of all those she knew. She loved her family and friends dearly. Over the past several years Margaret enjoyed taking water color painting classes. She became very good and had several paintings surrounding her at her care facility.

We have been so fortunate to have our mother for so long, though these last few years have been bittersweet as we watched her struggles. We witnessed dignity and determination.

We extend our deepest appreciation to her long-time friends who were so faithful, to her extended family, and to the staff of St. Luke’s Hospice for their kindness and care this past year.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Frances, and her husband, Leonard (Bud). She is survived by her three sons, Bryan (Cindy), Dennis, and Gary (Darla), ten grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and brother, Robert (Dorothy) Horn.

A viewing will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Monday July 9, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Her service will also be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home on Tuesday July 10, 2018 at 10:00am. A graveside service will immediately follow at Dry Creek Cemetery. After the graveside service, a reception will be held at Cloverdale Reception Center around 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Margaret’s name to Salvation Army.
