Tribute

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Marianne Cooper, 76, passed away on June 27, 2022, at her home with her devoted husband, Bill, by her side. Marianne was born on January 30, 1946, in Pocatello, Idaho. The daughter of Vera and Lonnie Miller grew up in Boise with her siblings Steve, Ron, and Valerie. She graduated from Borah High School in 1964.

She met the love of her life, Bill, while he was working with her brothers, Steve and Ron, at the Stinker Station on Front Street in Boise. She would bring Steve dinner every night, and soon Bill and Marianne fell in love. They borrowed Steve’s 59 Chevy and drove to Winnemucca, Nevada, where they eloped on April 30, 1965. Bill and Marianne were married for 57 years. They lived in Boise and Meridian during that time while raising their two boys, Rob and Scott.

In 1981, the Local 296 Plumbers and Pipefitters Chairman of the Board approached Marianne and asked her to start Idaho Pipe Trades and Trust, where she worked as the Administrator until her retirement in 2003. She was dedicated, loyal, and well respected by all.

Marianne enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling with Bill and their family. She enjoyed traveling with her siblings and their spouses to Mazatlán, Mexico. Marianne valued family get-togethers and dinners. If there was a holiday or celebration, she wanted the family to be together at her house. Marianne was a fantastic cook, a wonderful hostess, and party planner, but most of all, she had a huge heart. If a family friend, co-worker, or extended family member had nowhere to go during the holidays, they would not be alone. They were expected to be at her house for dinner, and she welcomed them like they were a member of the family.

Yet, what Marianne loved the most were her children and grandchildren. You could always find her on the sidelines, in the gym, baseball field, or in the school auditorium—whether local or out of state. If there was a sporting event, a play, a rehearsal, or a concert— if her son or grandchild was there, so was she. She was their biggest supporter and fan. She adored her grandchildren and would do anything for them.

Marianne is survived by her husband Bill, her sons Rob and Scott, their spouses, her stepdaughter, Susan, multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her siblings Steve, Ron, and Val, several nephews and nieces, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and her mother-in-law, Lavon.

The family would like to give special thanks to Bluebird Hospice for the exceptional care they provided Marianne and her family.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Cloverdale Memorial Park, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise, ID. 83713. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Make-A-Wish Idaho or a charity of your choice.

If I pass away unexpectedly
Remind my kids and grandchildren
Every time you see them, how much
I loved them and how I would do
Anything in the world for them
This is all I want
